Description
A drawing Ive been working on over the past two days or so of Shy and probably one of the most awesome people I know, Cryth or Silvercoils.
and I used to sit out on the river-wall and eat tangerines (gigantic tangerines, apparently...) all the time, so I drew our respective fursonas (plus Silver's bird, Grendel) doing just that.
This drawing was seriously an experiment for me, and a rather big risk. Theres a lot in here I very very rarely, if ever, draw; water, vegetation, birds, backgrounds, clothes, realistic poses, the list goes on. It could've turned out REALLY sucky, but I'm actually rather happy with it. (And even though I forgot the shading between the water and the wall, I fixed it in the original. I may repost sometime)
The water looks gross, I know, but its the Hillsborough River and its pretty dang brown in real life.
And Cryth art isnt usually so bright and happy, so I thought perhaps this would be a nice change of pace.
Silver, I was gonna wait until I saw you in person to give you the original, but I couldn't wait another month to post it, so you're gonna have to see it here first!

i've had such a difficult time trying to really convey my feelings for this piece. i mean, every time i see it i just am rendered speechless. EVERYTHING about this makes me ridiculously happy. it's SO perfect, every bit of it. EVERY DETAIIIIL. oh my god i love this so much. i want to frame it and put it somewhere where i'll see it every day. my god, where to begin.
WELL, the thing that really amuses me in a giddy way is that our outfits are absolutely perfect. <3 my HOBO PANTS and my freakin + belt buckle! and your usual jeans & tanktop style~! you got every inch of cryth's design down. you even stuck the little hate in there on the wrist, and the scars, and the markings and tail curly. eeeehehe we have our matching necklaces and collars. <3<3<3<3 the fact that grendel is there makes me so ridiculously squealy. he's so cuuuute awgosh! lookit him!! i just love that he's in there with us. <3
the little toesies sticking out of the water makes me happy too ;__; i really adore your marker works. you have such good control of texture and solidity, and it inspires me so much! the whole composition of this piece is effin' fantastic, with the hint of the tangerine tree in the corner to balance everything, and the fence, etc. you did so amazingly on the texture of the grass and that damn tree and it's leaves, i swear. it looks so great. and the fur as well- but you've always been really good at portraying fur texture and depth. speaking of depth, the shading is wondrous and really brings out the anatomy and perspective.
their expressions and poses work so well together- they're so calm and relaxed and happy. you got that across flawlessly.
this has such strong sentimental value for me, those times are some of my favorite memories of us [well, ALL of my memories of us are my favorite, but i think of these most often], when we'd just sit out there talking and eat ourselves sick of tangerine.. things. and this is so amazingly done and the effort put into it is so obvious and means so much to me. it makes my heart swell. <3 years ago, i did something very similar to this- with us eating tangerines and our feet dangling over the water. this was before cryth was a solid fursona at all, so that's.. ancient! but to see you having pulled this off a thousand times more beautifully than i ever could have done makes me so happy. i adore this SO much, and you! i really want to draw something just as nice eventually. i need to draw shy more, actually. i get so daunted by uncomplex canine anatomy, lmao. which is so retarded! i'm so used to drawing severely exaggerated features and stuff, so pretty little proportionate shy is so difficult for me xD dickbutts!
i really can't wait to frame this and hand it up with the rest of the art you gave me. this makes me SO happy and smiley, if i haven't said that enough. i miss you SO much. through all the chaos of being back to school and trying to get ready for dragon*con, i'm still going to work on figuring out that cruise thing, too- that's ultra priority charlie. i can't wait another year to see you! ;_____;
